Former KTLA anchor Glen Walker has officially landed on his feet. Just months after being let go by KTLA in a sweeping round of layoffs that shocked viewers, the veteran Los Angeles newsman revealed on Monday that he’s joining rival station Fox 11 Los Angeles. Walker broke the news himself on social media, posting a photo of himself walking out of a Fox building with a smile on his face. Instead of a caption, the image was accompanied by text overlayed that read: “Next chapter begins…” The announcement quickly drew congratulations from former colleagues and longtime fans. “CONGRATULATIONS GLEN!!!! So happy for you,” Dayna Devon, host of KTLA’s “LA Unscripted,” commented on Instagram. “Congrats! Can’t wait to watch you and so deserved! Miss you,” posted Lauren Lyster, co-anchor of “KTLA 5 Weekend Morning News.” Walker was among several high-profile on-air personalities cut by KTLA earlier this year as part of a broader restructuring at Nexstar Media Group stations in Los Angeles and New York. In addition to Walker, longtime weekday morning weather anchor Mark Kriski, veteran midday anchor Lu Parker, meteorologist Kacey Montoya and reporter Ellina Abovian also got axed. Walker served as a veteran midday anchor at KTLA, helping lead what grew into a three-hour late-morning news block from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., as well as an additional afternoon hour. “The midday shows that I did — it started as a one o’clock news,” Walker told The California Post. “It was successful, so we added another show and then added another show. It ended up being a three hour news block from eleven to two o’clock right after the morning show, and then from three to four.” “The shows all had good numbers, especially the ones at eleven, twelve, and one. And especially during breaking news,” he added. When he was let go in February, Walker said it came as a shock. While Walker has yet to announce specifics about his new role at Fox 11, the social media teaser strongly suggests he’ll soon be back on Los Angeles television screens.
