Barclays has released an update regarding future bonus payments for account holders. The announcement follows the high street lender recently issuing £200 payments to eligible customers.
The financial institution provided a £200 incentive for individuals switching their current account to Barclays Bank Account. However, this promotion concluded on May 28, as applications needed to be submitted by that deadline to qualify. Numerous banking providers have introduced switching rewards in recent months, to try and attract new customers to their services. For instance, Nationwide Building Society recently unveiled another £175 switching incentive, as it announced another £100 payment for members via its Fairer Share initiative.
This raises the question as to whether Barclays might launch another promotion in the coming months. The institution was questioned about its plans regarding any future cash incentive schemes.
Reviewing products
A spokesperson said: "We regularly review our products and offers to make sure they meet the needs of our customers, and we'll continue to assess opportunities in this space." The bank was asked which factors influence decisions around launching such promotions.
Barclays said in response: "We keep our propositions under constant review, listening closely to customer feedback and considering a range of factors to ensure we're providing competitive and compelling options." The major high street bank also recently shed light on its bank card policies after being quizzed by one of its customers.
The individual reached out to the financial institution via social media, concerned that their debit card was due to expire shortly. They were keen to find out when their replacement card would be delivered.
Debit card rules
Barclays responded: "All debit cards are sent out 5 weeks before the current card expires. It can take up to 7 working days to arrive after it has been sent."
The bank further advised the customer that they were welcome to get in touch via direct message regarding the matter. Barclays account holders are able to check their bank cards through the Barclays app by selecting 'Your cards' on the home screen, located just beneath their account balance.
This section also displays all registered cards, including both Barclays and Barclaycard products. From here, customers can also see all their options to manage and make changes to their cards.
