CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — A former Citadel graduate has been chosen to be part of NASA’s next Artemis mission, which is planned to take place next year. Randy Bresnik, a 1989 grad, will be the commander of the four-man Artemis III crew that will orbit Earth while practicing docking their Orion capsule, the Associated Press reports. The other three men who will be part of the mission are Andre Douglas, Luca Parmitano, and Frank Rubio. Upon NASA’s announcement, The Citadel called it a “tremendous day” for the institution. “This vital mission will bring humans one step closer to walking on the moon again, and we are incredibly proud that this mission will be led by a distinguished Citadel grad,” the school wrote on social media. The Artemis II mission took place in April and was humanity’s first lunar voyage in more than 50 years.
