H-E-B was given the go-ahead by the Dallas City Council last year to build the roughly 10-acre site. Advertisement It comes as part of H-E-B reshaping its store footprint, with store openings and closures. In March, H-E-B announced a new 25-acre store in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, which will begin construction next year. Mabrie Jackson said the company is “gearing up for extensive site work that we look to commence thissummer.” An estimated opening has been scheduled for sometime in 2028. And last week, H-E-B announced the imminent closure of a location in Austin, Texas. According to a May 20 press release, H-E-B will close the store at the end of July due to its outdated layout. Cathy Harm, H-E-B senior vice president of Central Texas, explained that the company had decided against renewing the lease. She said: “While decisions like this are never easy, we are grateful to the customers, Partners and community who have supported this store over the years. Advertisement “As this lease comes to an end, we remain committed to serving this area and have invested in more updated stores nearby to further enhance the shopping experience and provide the products, conveniences, and services our customers deserve.”
